有很多孩子学习5~10年英语依然读不懂英语原版教材，根本原因是在用死记硬背的办法记单词、学语法。家长朋友只要大概熟悉几个常用的前缀和后缀，就可以验证这种方法是无法的。
英语至少有7818个单词用到-ion，至少有6337个单词用到-tion，至少有4445个单词用到-ation。
和-ation相应的动词后缀是-ate，相应的形容词后缀是-ational，加上-ity又可以构成一个新的名词后缀-ationality。
英法德语中的-al都源自拉丁语的形容词后缀-alis。英语至少有3544个单词以-al结尾。
英语中的-(i)ty对应拉丁语的-(i)tas，法语的-(i)té，德语的-(i)tät。英语至少有1882个单词以-ty结尾，至少有1549个单词用到-ity。
英语至少有234个单词用到-ality。
请牢记：这些内容都不用死记硬背。您只要让孩子大概了解一下就可以了。
下面，我们用具体的单词来介绍。
中国小学生绝大多数都学习过vacation。如果您帮助孩子了解-ation是一个法语名词后缀，就只要重点记忆vac-这个拉丁语词根（相当于汉语中的偏旁部首）就可以了。

如果您一定要坚持背单词，就请背下：vac-表“空”，fac-表“做”，voc-表“说话，声音”，loc-表“地点”，foc-表“火炉，焦点”，doc-表“教，博学”，duc-表“领导，引导”。
这些都是拉丁语的常用字，可以帮助您的孩子轻松记忆大量的英法德意西语单词。
英语至少有5845个单词用到-ate，其中有很多是源自拉丁语的动词。如果您了解-ate多数是动词后缀，再记忆create就只要重点记忆cre-就可以了。

-er是法语动词不定式后缀之一，对应拉丁语和希腊语的-are。

拆解：kre+ieren。
德语中外语语的动词通常用统一的后缀-ieren，其中的-ier源自古法语，-en是德语、荷兰语、中古英语动词不定式后缀。
只要认识cre-就可以轻松掌握英语动词create，名词creation，形容词creative，加上拉丁语表“行为者”的后缀-tor就是creator（创造者）。同时，您也可以顺便掌握拉丁语、意大利语动词creare，西班牙语动词crear，法语动词créer，德语动词creieren。
给家长朋友特别推荐2本书，一本是汉语版的，是李克希编纂的《英汉医学词汇词素构词法词典》。
另一本是英语原版的《The Greek&Latin Roots of English（英语的希腊语和拉丁语根源）》。
